Some photos from our Spring tapestry retreat in Harpswell, Maine.
Don is showing a tapestry he has been working on. Our students worked on creating smooth lines and curves using wraps. They also worked on sewing slits and weaving half and quarter circles. While doing all this they learned how to deal with ribbing, keeping selvages straight, weaving in opposite sheds, how to choose warp and weft sizes, warping, inking on, winding a bobbin, how to start a new yarn away from the selvage and more. We also talked about some tapestry history, design and why we sample or not. We ate meals together, went on a walk, talked tapestry and had lots of laughs. It was a great workshop and Don and I would like to thank Cilla, Stephanie and Meredith for joining us. We all had a marvelous weekend!
