I was so taken by Leigh’s beauty I just had to weaver her. She’s tall, elegant and quite demure with long, wavy, premature gray hair. I took about 150 photos in different garb. My aim was to do a full figure but I have yet to do that.
This is the second tapestry I wove of Leigh. I may do more. Once I began weaving this version I realized it’s reminiscent of Andy Warhol an artist whose work I admire. I didn’t sent out to copy him but here it is. The yarn in the hat is textured with tiny purple pom poms. The face, neck and ear are pale pink but appear whitish against the red on the computer.
Wool weft, seine twine warp.
